Mod: the moderator or manager of a SL.

IC: In character
OOC: Out of Character
NPC: Non Playable Characters
TC: Temporary Character
BRB: Be Right Back

AFK: Away From Keyboard
AFC: Away From Computer

TTYL: Talk To You Later
LOL: Laughing Out Loud
LFR: Laughing For Real
ROFL: Rolling On Floor Laughing
LMAO: Laughing My Ass Off
PM: Private Message (just like on FB)
DM: Direct Message (on-site e-mail)
OC: Original Character. Character you create.
OP: Overpowered. Your character has too much power and needs limitations and/or flaws.
AR: Advanced Roleplay, which is extremely descriptive RP usually resulting in large posts.
TBL: Turn Based Logic; a type of combat style where one person posts an attack/defense and then the next person posts a response usually consisting of an attack/defense.
TBO: Turn Based Outpost; a type of combat style where players attempt to win by out-posting their opponent.
TB: Turn Based; a type of RP style where people take turns posting rather than posting at will.
Splice: When someone posts out of turn in a Turn Based (TB) room.
NTB: Not Turn Based; a type of RP where people post without order and at will.
CRP: Cross-role-play; when people take IC information learned OOC and use it IC when it wasn't properly learned of in character through RP.
Brackets: Example: ( text) or [text]. Something used to specify when one is speaking out of character.
Canon: when RP/character is from an official source, such as a video game or movie.
God Moding: When you make your character undefeatable beyond reason.
Power gamer: Person who God Modes and tends to be a Mary Sue or Gary Stew.
Mary Sue or Gary Stew: is a character that is usually perfect in every way.
Metagamer: a player that plays their character with knowledge they should or could not know. Same as CRP.
Moding: When you force things on other players, such as making them accept a hit or playing their character for them.
Nexus: meaning all things from every time period and every genre are allowed to exist in the same location and it's entirely normal.
Fantasy: RP where unrealistic and improbable things occur, such as magic powers, mystical creatures and situations, and supernatural abilities. Also, locations that don't actually exist but are created from ones imagination.
Realism: RP where realistic and probable things occur in a setting similar to the real world but is unrestrained by time, meaning it can take place in past, present, or future.
Modern: RP taking place in present time.
Modern Fantasy: RP taking place in present time but with fantasy attributes. Usually meaning there can be powers, different species, supernatural abilities, etc.
Medieval: RP taking place in medieval times but with fantasy attributes. This can be realism or fantasy based.
Futuristic: RP taking place in the future in relation to present day.
